A
partial solution to the problem of reducing the time needed to produce
a two-dimensional image with a basically unidimensional detector can be
achieved by increasing the number of layers of the detector. A prototype
of such a multilayer detector has been constructed by coupling several
basic modules to obtain a total of three layers, each with 256 200x300
mm2 pixels.
The
picture shows one stage of the stacking operation involving the basic detector
modules. The multilayer detector protptype has been already successfully
tested at the SYRMEP beamline.
